A typical website project at a classic agency: three to six months, a budget between €20,000 and €100,000, a project plan with phases straight out of the 2000s. That model worked as long as every line of code had to be written by hand. That precondition is gone, and with it the justification for most of the cost.
What AI-first does not mean
Let's clear up the misunderstanding first: AI stands for artificial intelligence. AI-first does not mean a machine builds your website and nobody looks at it. Anyone selling that is shipping you an untested, automatically generated result with your logo on top.
AI-first means the entire workflow has been rebuilt around AI tools. It is not a chatbot bolted onto an old process, but a different division of labor. The machine handles repeated patterns. The human handles what needs judgment.
Where the time is actually saved
In practice, four time sinks that fill the calendar in classic projects disappear for us:
- Hand-built components. A pricing table with a switch, a multi-step form, or a filter bar used to take a day of work each. Now it takes a precise written instruction plus half an hour of review.
- Design-to-code translation. Getting from an approved design to a working component used to consume entire work cycles. Now it takes minutes plus polish.
- Writing test cases. AI generates the base coverage including the edge cases humans chronically forget: empty states, keyboard navigation, error paths.
- Repeated setup code. Project setup, data models for the content management system (CMS), and connections to application programming interfaces (APIs) follow known patterns. That is diligence work without insight value, and it is exactly what the tools are built for.
What remains is the work that makes the difference: architecture decisions, understanding the business model, and rigorous reviews. That is why every one of our projects has an experienced engineer accountable for every line. Our cost breakdown for AI-assisted development shows the numbers transparently: roughly 80% lower cost, delivery in days instead of months.
Where AI honestly does not help
Three things do not get faster no matter how good the tools are. Understanding requirements: one workshop with the right questions saves more money than any code generation. Connecting older systems: when a 2009 enterprise resource planning (ERP) system has an undocumented interface based on the older SOAP web-service standard, no model in the world helps; only experience does. And accountability: a model is not liable for violations of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), broken checkout flows, or wrong pricing. We are.
That is exactly why choosing a partner has become more important, not less. The barrier to entry for "something with AI" is zero. The bar for reliable quality in business-critical projects is as high as ever.
How to spot a real AI-first partner
Ask three things in the first conversation. First: who reviews the generated code, and is that person in the contract? Second: which concrete work steps run differently at your company than three years ago? Anyone answering "we use ChatGPT" has no AI-first process. Third: show me a shipped project including budget and timeline. With us, that conversation leads to an honest assessment of whether your project is a fit – sometimes the answer is no. For AI strategy beyond the website, there is our AI consulting service.
The industry is changing quickly. Providers that keep the same processes will increasingly compete on price alone. For buyers, that is good news: professional web solutions have never been more accessible. Our cost breakdown explains how AI can reduce the cost of a web project.
